Friends, teachers, strangers, family, and people I don\u2019t yet in this adventure:\n\r\n \r\nI\u2019m going to start sending something out once in a while. I don\u2019t expect anyone to read all of it or any of it. If it finds its way into your deleted emails before ever being read, that\u2019s fine too. I suppose one man\u2019s trash is another\u2019s treasure.\r\n\r\nI love to write. This is a way I can share that and the things I\u2019m coming across and experiencing in life. Not a journal or some religious update of exactly what I\u2019m doing. Hopefully something cool where I can share some things. Whether that be a few sentences or a story. These are things that matter to me. Stories and perspectives. I believe in them. I love what I heard Jon Foreman say in an interview once. He said that, \u201cMusic is like this scaffolding that allows me to reach new places that I couldn\u2019t get to otherwise.\u201d In a lot of ways, writing is that scaffolding for me. He also went on to talk about the fact that each of us is an artist. And it isn\u2019t that some of us are born one and others aren\u2019t \u2013 rather it\u2019s that somewhere along the line most of us make the decision to stop being one. That part of us is dead. And written on our headstone says something like, \u201cI wasn\u2019t really that good\u201d, \u201cI used to but..\u201d, and \u201cI don\u2019t have the time anymore\u201d. I think Jon is right when he says we all come to a point where we make that decision, that excuse to kill off our brilliance. The artist is a past version, or even worse, a never realized part of ourselves. Writing this, in a way, is keeping that part of me ablaze. The artist is alive. \r\n\r\nAnyways, this isn\u2019t a newsletter or some boring junk. That isn\u2019t the intention here. This is a freedom. And you are free to engage or not to.\r\n\r\nI often think about the many people I\u2019ve met and how we are all each on a separate and special journey. Yet, we all play such a big role in each other\u2019s story. Maybe in some ways, when we come alive and set life into the things we love to do, when we unleash that artist in us, we are that same scaffolding for one another. And if we\u2019re willing to go all in\u2013 we all get to take in this unfathomable view. We\u2019ll never know what that looks like if we don\u2019t start.\r\n\r\nThere\u2019s no schedule to how this works. It\u2019s on a wild and uncalculated course. Whatever time zone, state, country, or place you may be in \u2013 hello and welcome.
